2014 – 2015 Season

Bach & Erlebach
March 8, 2015      3:00 pm      Chapel of the Cross
Phillipp Heinrich Erlebach was a prolific baroque-period composer, although most of his works were destroyed in a fire in 1735. Only 13 instrumental pieces survive (from more than 120) and one of these – a favorite trio sonata among our musicians – is included on this program of German baroque music. Erlebach shares the spotlight with J.S. Bach (arias and violin sonata) and Buxtehude (Singet dem Herrn cantata).  Featuring guest artist Dana Maiben, baroque violin (Boston); gambist Brent Wissick; soprano Florence Peacock; and harpsichordist Beverly Biggs. See additional information under News Releases.

Molly Quinn: Pan & Syrinx
January 25, 2015      3:00 pm      Chapel of the Cross
New York soprano Molly Quinn is much-beloved in her home town of Chapel Hill. She returns home for this program of French baroque music, featuring Monteclair’s cantata Pan & Syrinx. Also featured are Gail Schroeder, viola da gamba; Gesa Kordes, baroque violin; Rebecca Troxler, baroque flute; and Beverly Biggs, harpsichord. The program also includes Marais’s famous variations on La Folia for gamba and continuo  – a tour de force for the viola da gamba.

CPE Bach & Bros.
October 12, 2014     3:00 pm      Chapel of the Cross
Celebrating the 300th anniversary of the birth of CPE Bach.  John O’Brien, fortepiano; Rebecca Troxler, flute; Leah Peroutka, violin; Joey O’Donnell, viola; and Chris Nunnally, cello.
